How.... observant

Oh Cacher-roo how you make me laugh.
Observation numero uno:
I was laying down on the couch yesterday enjoying the first half of the "Holy War" when Cache gets up on the couch sniffs my bum and says, "Mommy, did you pooh?" He sniffs again and says, "nope." Then he proceeded to check everyone's bottom, he even patted Steve's while saying, "Did you pooh?"
Now we know what Cache goes through when we check if his diaper stinks.

Observation number two:
I was working on my dreadful portfolio when I noticed it had been quite for far too long. Where had Cache gone? He was sorting the laundry in my closet. He did pretty good too, then he pushed the basket all the way to the laundry room and that is when he called for my help.

I am pretty happy with my kid. Not only is he super adorable, he is ultra clean too. If he makes a mess he will clean it and he absolutely LOVES to help out.

Observation number three:
Shaving. If this child can get his hands on his daddy's electric shaver he will shave to the best of his ability. BUT, the shaver is very well hidden because I do not want another eyelash shaving experienc

fall twenty.ten ♥

This last weekend Steve and I were planning out the next week ahead of us. We were figuring out the babysitting situation, the projects, the shopping, etc. That is when I realized, fall is pretty much over. This Friday I work the afternoon, next friday is Thanksgiving break...the Friday after is Dec. 3rd. Wowzers.

So, I must get my rear in gear and write down our family's fun fall adventures before more time passes and I forget about them.

We went to Cornbelly's and I had no idea how much fun it would be!! I was just expecting the corn maze but there was SO much more to do.

Be prepared...here comes a looong photo montage.

Does the above picture remind you of someone I'm married to?
It looks like Steve, yes?
Steve is the one who called me over and said, "Babe look! It's me!"
He was devastated to find out it was David Archuletta.
It was faa-REEZING!! but we loved being there. It reminded me of living in a small country town where everyone is getting together for a town festival. You know, like in Sweet Home Alabama or Hope Floats. It was great. Cache LOVED the corn house. yup. corn house. A whole massive room filled with corn kernels for kids to play in.
We walked through a massive dinosaur, we attempted the maze and we jumped and jumped on the bouncy "pillows". We just enjoyed being together. Even though lil' Cache lost Buzz Lightyear that night, we still had fun.
Cache and I returned two days later for a Cache and Mommy day. I didn't take my camera because sometimes I feel like I need to stop capturing and start experiencing. It was refreshing. I didn't have to hurry to put the camera away every time Cache decided to take off, or worry about slinging it safely over my body as I crawl through tiny tunnels. I could just play with Cache.
We left for Lehi right when I got off of work, I was so excited to get there! I kept thinking, "Yes! It is going to be empty because school is in session. We'll have the whole place pretty much to ourselves!"
.....Wrong-o
They didn't open until 4:00...it was 1:30 when we pulled up. We walked around the shops and then we went to the petting farm. You know it is nothing but LOVE when I, Krista Kei Bourne, go to a place with stinky animals. It wasn't too bad. Cache LOVED it. I am so happy I had my flip in hand to capture the moment when Cache fed the goat and it licked his fingers and he looked at me and started laughing uncontrollably and then ended with an, "Ewww. Mommy oook eww!". Oh, my sanitary, clean germ cautious child. You truly are mine.
After that Cacherz rode a little pony. There was no line so we just hopped right on. It was fabulous.
But not everything was fabulous. The cow pie smell was not fabulous and hence the cows were not fabulous. There was an enclosed ramp that takes you right up close to them, we went about 5 steps before I started gagging from the stench. 12 inches away from was a massive cow "pie". Ewww!!!!!  I look up and there is a man with his daughter looking at me like he has never seen a girl trip out over a cow pie. Then he laughs as I say, "Cache you're going to have to wait until daddy comes to pet the cows." Embarrassing, no...I will not be embarrassed about my keen sense of smell, it is just another trait I received from my mom.
After that incident I realized it was probably time to walk over to Cornbelly's.  We were over there at 3:50 and guess what, the line was wrapping around and around. So, we waited. It was worth it. we jumped for twenty minutes on the bounce pillow, we rode the horse swings, Cache bounced in the princess bounce house while I tried to coax him to come out, we slid down huge slides, then cache started sliding by himself, we watched chickens tell jokes and I tell you what, chickens aren't that funny. What was funny was this big guy who was chasing his kids on the bouncy pillows, and every time he passed Cache and me, we flew into the air. Sooo much fun.
Well it was time to go.We were exhausted! And in need of a diaper change. We got on the freeway and an hour and a half later (dang construction) we were home just in time to change a diaper, have a quick snack and head off to Airtime. WooWee what a day that was. I loved every minute of it....minus the hour + that I was on the freeway.
Over the UEA break we attempted to go to Thanksgiving Point again so Steve could see Cache ride a pony, but the line was wrapping around the corral. Besides, who really wants to stand right by horse crap for an hour watching screaming children ride in a circle on a horse? Not us. We decided to go exploring.
There were some CUTE places to take pictures and play.

This bottom one is a favorite of mine because...well just look:

I thought this was so cute!! The horses have fairy wings. We also decided not to stand in line for this either.

What we did do is head up to Park City to hang out with the Cousins. I shopped with Darcie (my ALL TIME FAVORITE shopping buddy) for around three hours. Steve, SaeJoon and Dorie took Cache and Gwenie swimming. Cache also received his first Speedo from Auntie Terri (thank you Auntie).

Next up, Halloween festivities, but that is an entry of its own.

Good Night.

Love,
Krista

Picture of the week/ PoW

Remember when I wrote about how adorable my husband is when he puts Cache to bed? Remember how determined Steve was?
I took this picture a couple weeks ago and it shows that Cache was just as determined as his daddy.

Check out those tired eyes and his smug little grin.

Flipped

Once in awhile we read something that changes our perspective on life. We put our book down and we are changed.
I just had that experience, and no, it was not with the Hunger Games series (though it really got me thinking), this book is a cute little book called Flipped.
I opened it up and it was love at first sentence. I loved the way the author described things and the way he brought the characters to life. It seemed refreshing....or maybe it was because I had been reading about children killing other children...any-who, it was adorable.

Here is the basic plot:
Little Julie Baker is in LOVE with Bryce Loski. He does NOT love her, I mean in 2nd grade don't all girls have cooties? Bryce does everything he can to avoid her. Well years later things 'Flip' and Bryce finds himself falling for her....and Julie, well she doesn't think he is too great. This is how someone explained this to me and I thought, oh that's cute. Then I read it and there is SO much more to it.

First sentence of Bryce's Chapter: All I've ever wanted was for Julie Baker to leave me alone.
First two sentences of Julie's Chapter: The first day I met Bryce Loski, I flipped. Honestly, one look at him and I became a lunatic.
*The author writes this story from Bryce and Julie's point of view.

I loved this book because the message was so... wonderful. I was reminded of what is truly important in life, it also made me think of my actions. I put the book down thinking, "Do I look at things in proper lighting? Do I look at the whole picture?"
(Those are lines from the book. This is not about photography people).

One of my favorite parts is when Julie is talking to her dad while he is painting a picture. She is remembering when she told her dad about why she loves Bryce and she talks about the older she gets the more philosophical her dad would get. Here is the paragraph:

Mostly the things he talked about floated around me, but once in awhile something would happen and I would understand exactly what he had meant. "A painting is more than the sum of its parts," he would tell me, and then go on to explain how the cow by itself is just a cow, and the meadow by itself is just grass and flowers, and the sun peaking through the trees is just a beam of light, but put them all together and you've got magic.

Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen

One of my new FAVORITE books. The messages in this book will stick with me for always.

***Side note: Hunger Games Series is a FABULOUS series!!  I do like it ;)

Tender-roma

"Cache, it is time to go to your bed" says Steve
Cache quickly hides under our covers and says, "night, night."

"Cache you are going to sleep in your own bed tonight."
Steve picks up Cache and walks out of the room.

In the hallway I hear Cache say, "Daddy. Daddy. Daddy!"
Steve says, "kid you really know how to pull at my heart. But you will be all right. We are right across the hall. You have the coolest room ever and mommy and I love you."

"Daddy, no."
"I will stay with you until you fall asleep."
....And he did.

Steve always does things like this.  I'm so happy, joyful, ecstatic, thankful and in love with the fact that he is my husband and Cache's dad. He is so strong, hardworking, handsome, serious and focused. I love all of those things. But he is also Tender, Goofy, Hilarious and he is quick to make friends and he loves with all of his heart.

Ever since I have had Cache I am way more emotional about things like that. When I heard Steve tucking Cache in and talking to him, my eyes started to get sweaty.
Everyone says that your hormones would be out of whack for awhile after pregnancy, but I don't think it's supposed to take this long. But, I think it is okay. Maybe I am just more appreciative of the small moments.

North Park

On August 31st Cache and I went to the new North Park in Spanish Fork.

It is a way fun place, as you can see.

Just before getting squirted/blasted in the face..,

Recovering from the blast.
Look at those eyelashes!!

I suppose he was thirsty...

I Love You Cache!!!

So after Cache was done with this area we went over to the playground. Cache wanted to climb on the big kid playground instead of sliding down the whimppy slides. He thinks he is so big.
Don't worry I played on the playground too, ya know, to make sure it was safe. And it is and it is fun. My favorite, those little seats that keep spinning you around.

When it was time to go, we went past grass that was roped off because they are trying to get the grass all set and ready to go. Well the sprinklers came on. Cache went crazy, he ran into the very middle of the roped off grass, where I of course, I couldn't get him unless I wanted to get soaked.
So I stood there mortified trying to get Cache to come back to me while other moms just gave me that sympathetic I-am-so-glad-that-is-not-me smile ;)
Finally he was brave and he ran the edges where I caught him.

I wanted to go back again that night with Steve and we did.
It just wasn't the same.

10 steps out of the car and I hear 5 different, familiar voices screaming, "MRS.BOURNE!!!"
I was so happy to see former students, and more popped out of nowhere after that, but I wanted to chillax with my little family so we booked it out of there fast.

So funny when students see you outside of school. After the shock that their teacher has a life wears off, they are genuinely happy to see you.

Anyways,  I am so so happy I get to spend more time with him so I can have moments like these.

Hogle Zoo

On Friday August 13, 2010 We went to the Hogle Zoo

We saw "nature's nightmares"
as you can see Cache is clinging to Steve

Looking at Piranhas.
Cache thought they were the coolest think ever. He kept making us go back to them.

Cache LOVED the merry-go-round!

When we were waiting in the queue line he started getting a bit impatient.
Then it was finally our turn. Cache sat on his lion and was happy....he had no idea it got better.

Soon he was going around and up and down. He loved it.
I am so happy I took him first because the second time, once he was on he animal, he knew he was supposed to be moving.
Yup, I could hear him on the other side of the merry go round "encouraging" them to hurry up.

Then it stopped...

Cache was quite upset. We had to hurry and get his mind off of it (then we made sure we avoided the merry go round the rest of our zoo visit).

So across the way, to the elephants we went.

Baby Elephant (the day before her b-day)

Then to the rhinos...man they STINK

This picture was take of Cache at the bird show. It also just so happens to be right before he got in trouble with the zoo worker. Cache decided the show was boring, so he ran over to the grassy area as they were releasing some dangerous hawk. The zoo worker came up to him (right as Steve was standing up to get him) and said, "little boy, you need to go sit down." Cache looked at her like, who the heck are you? Then he sat on the grass and she said," you need to go sit over there." Steve held out his arms and Cache walked over looking slightly confused about at what just happened. Props to him for listening though.

We saw Melman/ the Giraffes

Cache was going crazy shouting, "Mom! Mom" at every animal window. He was fascinated.

This is a classic Cache face which stands for, "this is pretty cool, huh."

Here is Cache deciding if this is "Mom!" worthy (he says Mom! when he is excited)
It is Mom! worthy so here he goes with he deep pitched repetive, "Mom! Mom!"

Look at this Gorilla, just chillin. I had to throw this in ;)

CUTE!!
Notice the monkey leash is no more in this picture. Cache was freed. He was running and galloping all over the place.

Cache was freaked out by this statue. He was cool with it until it made a loud noise and sprayed water at him. So taking a picture with this elephant, didn't turn out the way I'd hoped. But, the moment was captured.

Mandi and Grandma Jamie were there with us!! Even though it got a little bit hot ;)
Notice the hat Mandi is wearing....it is MAGICAL!!! This hat got Mandi to stop complaining and enjoy her zoo trip. Pretty amazing, no?

Gofer Cache

Mandi was really caught in a web. Don't worry, I saved her life.

Turtle

We are in an egg.

We are not sure what we are doing in the egg.

Playing on the playground

How better to end the zoo trip then to play in the cool fountain.

Cache fell asleep in the car pretty quickly. He had so much energy the whole time at the zoo he was zonked.
We all had so much fun! Definitely will be going again!!
