The most wonderful time of the year

Nope, not Christmas (that is pretty wonderful as well). But I am genuinely in love with summer. Everything about it makes everyday feel like a little celebration. The best part is getting a little taste of being a full time mom :) I know that I am very blessed to have a career that gives me these little tastes here and there. I have to tell you, it's like my favorite treat (guri-guri) I just can't get enough.
There is also the lazy mornings, the afternoons spent in the sun, the extra time spent with family, parties, late evening walks through our little countryside, sun kissed cheeks and Cache's wicked tan line.

This picture began my summer vacation:)I went to put some of my workbooks away and when I got back Steve had all of my presents on display. For me, this was very heart warming, not because of what he did, but because of what he said. He always has positive, uplifting words for me and often lets me know that he is truly proud of me. Thanks babe.

Cache just being the great helper that he always is.

How could I not love getting home from the gym and seeing these two studying together.
Steve was doing his continuing education for his Insurance Agency and Cache said,
"Oh, hey mom. We just workin real hard. Dad workin on insurance and I'm workin to help Mickey get ten ducks."
Fantastic.
These two are the best of friends. I love that I not only married a great man, I married a great dad too.

Here's to summer and all of the fabulousness that lies ahead.

All good thing must come to an end...

True dat.

I have to tell you that I feel like I was just leaving my classroom for the summer, yesterday. But in reality it was several weeks ago and I have been back to my classroom making things, meeting students, meeting parents, planning, reading, planning more and going to meetings.
Before all of these things fill my head up and spill out all the summer goodness, I best be writing them down. Because this summer was one of my all time favorite summers, definitely my favorite so far with my little family.
June

My grandparents came over to visit us this summer and I was oh so happy they did. We really, truly, absolutely love them. They are spectacular people and I love being around them.
Cache was warming up slowly, but Gramma knew how to charm him, CANDY!
I smile just picturing her reach into her pocket and whip out a dum-dum and wave it in front of Cache. Cache would look at her and with a shy smile and nervous eyes he would walk over to Gramma take the sucker and whisper so very, very softly, "thank-you gramma." I hope grandma felt that thank you in her heart because I am pretty positive she couldn't hear it.
My earliest memory of my Grandparents are when I was probably four or five years old. I can still remember always getting so excited for them to come because it would be a nice long family party. We always have lots of family parties when they come into town. Plenty food, plenty laughs and plenty unforgettable moments. Now that we are all grown up and doing our own thing, I am way more excited and way more appreciative of their visits...which I might add are never long enough.
Grandma and Grandpa's visit was the best way to start off my summer.
This pictures just warms my heart n' soul. I really, really, really hope Cache will have memories of my Grandparents. They are such good people.
Oh Gramma! Watching game shows or Korean dramas one minute and the next snoring away. I love it!! Hey, if I taught school for 30 years like Gramma, I would be sleeping 24/7!
Next year we are having a family reunion so I for one am very happy to report that my grandparents are coming again!

Art City Days: Children's Art Festival with my best friend, Cassie, and her cute nieces.
That night: FIREWORKS!! So. Much. Fun.

Above: Cache's theme for the summer. He learned how to ride a scooter! Not a 3-wheeler one, a 2-wheeler one. He's really good at it, way to go buddy!
We loved watching Gwenie and Cache play together, it was so cute. Here is Cache and Gwenie on one of their many adventures and obviously way too into it to even look at me for two seconds. That's okay because I can tell you that they are doing one of Gwenie's favorite activities: Finding T.j's airsoft gun bullets and collecting them into a nice pile.
Our first morning together, Cache wanted pancakes and cars. So we ate breakfast in Cache's room and watched Cars on the laptop.
My child cracks me up, warms my soul, makes me love more than I ever thought possible and fills me with gratitude to Heavenly Father for giving him to me.
The first morning of summer vacation Cache woke up, ran into the kitchen and said, "Mommy, are you stayin' wit me? No work?" I said, "Yes, I get to stay and play with you. " He said, "Thanks mom, I love you." That happened every day for the whole summer, so you can imagine I was heartbroken when my answer had to change to no. But, I am so happy that I have my mom, mom-in-law and some sisters here and there to help take care of him and love him while I am at work. He has so much fun that he doesn't even care that I am working after the first day! (I do realize that school doesn't have much to do with summer, but you can see where my mind is now...school stuff)
The end of June brought more family and I was so happy that Steve could meet my Auntie Lorri and my Uncle Uale for the first time! More pictures and stories of that to come. For now I better say Good-Night, but I will leave you with this little gem...

He is just such a fun lil' guy who thinks he is 14 year sold.
Love you Cache Money. Cha-Ching! ;)

Love,
Us

Summer has come and gone...

and it's always a little bit sad.
We LOVE summer. We love being outdoors, swimming, parties, bbq's, family time, late nights and the celebrations. There is just something about summer that makes life not so stressful. Not just because I'm a teacher, I really think everyone relaxes just a little bit more than usual.

This summer we have had fun at the pool!! Pretty much everyday. I would show pictures but since it was usually just Cache and I,  I didn't take any. But summer isn't over yet, maybe I'll get some in. But I tell ya, taking cache is a handful. He thinks he is big and wants to go play in the deep end with the kids. But, his all time FAVORITE part of swimming is taking a hot shower by the pool. He'll jump out and run to the showers and point saying, "Mom. Mom. Please."

We clean and organized our home. And it has stayed CLEAN!! There is so much you can do when you don't have to work. I promised I wouldn't waste my "stay-home mommy time" and I didn't.

We had fun photo shoots.
We took naps.
I read lots of books for the upcoming school year.
We went to fun baseball games.
Stayed up late with family.
Visited friends.
Visited family.
Vegas.
St. George.

Cache and I read books and learned words, had dance parties. We watched "Chuggington" and "Yo-Gabba-Gabba". We decided we weren't watching Yo-Gabba, that guy freaked the both of us out.

Cache learned to gallop and he got to spend more time with his best friend Gwenie.

I'm always sad to see summer go...

For our last "Hoorah" we went to the zoo. Cache LOVED it.

More summer pictures to come.

Mommy ♥'s Cache

Summer is already going by so fast.
I have loved every second being with Cache, I'm learning a lot.
I think working full time has helped me smile through the times when Cache breaks something, grabs his poop, pees on me...etc. because to put it simply, I'm just happy to be home with him.

Two weeks ago we went to Cache's 15 month check up.
They were pretty impressed that Cache could walk backwards, and had been for about a month.

He is 32" long and weighs 23 pounds
(Length 91%tile Weight 18%tile)

Cache is a very observant little guy
Here he is sitting in my chair.
He opened up my vanity,
turned it on,
grabbed my make-up brushes and started putting it on.
Many eyeshadows have been crumbled (yes, even a MAC one).

Cache sees me stick bobby pins in my hair all the time, and I usually have some above my ear...
Now I have to hide them from Cache because he tries to stick them in his ear.

He love to copy everything his dad does.
He even works out with him (cutest thing ever).
He loves moving and he is fast.
If it was possible for us to fly, Cache would be doing that already.
He loves dancing, running, spinning and anything that keeps him going.

In Vegas he would run down the hallway so stinkin' fast,
If Mandi or Kami jumped he would stop and raise his hands in the air, thinking he had jumped.

He tries to do cartwheels with me
AND
he is
ALWAYS
on the
GO...

He also is a very reverent prayer participant.
He will fold his arms and wait patiently until we are done.

Cache loves helping around the house,
he vacuums, "sweeps", dusts and "helps" me with laundry.

He even helps me wipe his poopy bum.
(SO funny)

Words:
Mama
Daddy (perfectly said...lucky Steve)
Doggy: Dah-ee
Bottle (ba-ba)...but the bottle is gone for good!
Woah! (I guess I'll count that as a word)
Thank You (Tay-oo)
Please(Pley...we are working on it, he doesn't say this one too much)
Mandi (Mah-ee)

He jibber-jabbers all the time, I love to hear it.

Possible Phrases We Are pretty sure we heard:
Bath time (Ba ime): We are pretty positive on this one
I want that: Steve and I both think we heard it and Cache was pointing at his sippy, but I hope we can get him to say it in a not so bratty way.

Cache has SIX teeth coming in right now!!
SIX!!
Including a molar
You wouldn't know it because nothing slows this kid down.
Not even Strep throat.

My little baby isn't a baby anymore.
Being with him through out the day has made me realize that even more.
If I ask him to take something to Steve he'll do it.
If I ask him if he wants to read a book, he'll lead me to the bookshelf.
If I say bath time or if he says it, he'll run to the bathroom while trying to undress himself.
If I say, No Cache, he will look at me and smile and stop (usually)
If I say, clean up time, he will start putting things away.
He tries to feed himself with spoon.
He loves to play catch.
If I say, time to go, he will run to the gate and tippy-toe to try and unlatch it.
He does the actions to twinkle-twinkle and 5 little monkeys...

I don't know when all of this happened.
But, I do know/have realized that no matter what things will come up and I need to make sure I take time to write down everything that is going on.
Because someday, this is all I will have to remember these little toddler moments.

Even if I have to stay up til' 2:00 am to do it.
